Adaptive Active Flow Control

Barron Associates, Inc. and its research partners have developed synthetic jet actuator designs and layouts to enable improved high angle of attack performance and low angle of attack maneuvering using synthetic jet actuators for improved aircraft safety and controllability.  Barron Associates has developed new adaptive control algorithms that are essential to realizing the full potential of synthetic jet actuators.

Barron Associates adaptive control techniques are generic and widely applicable to systems having uncertain actuator nonlinearities.  Morphing control surfaces, shape-change (e.g., shape memory alloy) actuators, vortex generators, distributed micro-actuators, and many other new and emerging actuator concepts could gain more rapid and widespread industry acceptance by incorporating Barron Associates adaptive control techniques.
